For Mom

My infant eyes looked into yours
finding safety and limitless love,
and so our life together began.

You watched me grow and I watched you love.
I, striving to be all that was you.
You, where I felt safe and at home.

We walked down many paths,
some long and wearisome,
some wondrous and new, our hearts,
kindred always lead us back home,
to each other.

Now I look into my child's eyes,
and am filled with the love that you must have felt
when you first looked into mine.

I hope to be half the mother you are
and I shall look to the memories of you and I.

The love, the laughter, the tears
where I will find guidance,
and your never ending love.

I am so proud that you are my Mom
