Brothers In Stereo Sign Distribution Deal/Shoot Video!

St. John's Rock and Roll group Brothers In Stereo have just signed a distribution deal with Maple Nationwide, a brand new label in Toronto directly affiliated with the successful Maplemusic, distributor for Sam Roberts, Kathleen Edwards, 54-40, Gord Downie and many more. Maple Nationwide distributes through Universal, putting Brothers In Stereo in a position with much potential for big success. Brothers In Stereo is expected to be distributed/available throughout the country by late October.

B.I.S. have also signed on with St. John's Video company Wavelight Productions to shoot a video for their single, "The Worst Crowd". This is scheduled to be shot in late September, just before B.I.S.'s NL. tour of the Arts and Culture Centres, Oct. 1st-11th.

B.I.S. have also been chosen as the support act for Crush's NL and Halifax shows in late October.

To celebrate all this good news, B.I.S. is doing a show @ Club One, Friday, September 19th @ 10:30pm. Tickets are a mere $5.00 at the door; it promises to be the first big event of the fall.

If anyone wants to do an interview/feature on B.I.S.'s hot news between now and September 19th, reply to this e-mail and we will set up a time. Promo shots are available on the B.I.S. website, linked below.

Thank you everybody for your ongoing support of Brothers In Stereo,

Chris

MIANL member gets recognition!

Garrison Guitars' President & CEO Receives $25,000 Manning Award of Distinction

Chris Griffiths, Garrison Guitars President and CEO, has captured the Ernest C. Manning Award of Distinction, an award that grants Griffiths $25,000 for his invention and commercialization of the revolutionary Griffiths Active Bracing SystemT. This is the first time in the award's 22 year history that the award has been given to a Newfoundland innovator.

Last year's winners included the inventors of the Blackberry Wireless Email system, the Doctor who discovered and commercialized the world's first synthetic vaccine that protects infants against Group C Meningitis, and the inventors of SMART Technologies, the interactive white board system for computer applications.

This year, Chris Griffiths, inventor of the patented Griffiths Active Bracing SystemT has been awarded the prestigious Manning Award of Distinction. "It is such a great honour to be recognized for our accomplishments and to be placed in a category with so many other great Canadian entrepreneurs", says Griffiths.

The patented Griffiths Active Bracing SystemT, the backbone of Garrison and its products, integrates the binding, kerfing, bridge plate and all the braces into a single unit, glass-fibre component. Single-unit bracing provides Garrison Guitars with enhanced structural stability and increased acoustic response, while eliminating more then 30 individually machined and individually installed wood pieces found inside a traditional acoustic guitar. The Ernest C. Manning Awards Foundation, named in honour of the great Canadian statesman, was incorporated as a society in 1980 to recognize
and encourage innovation in Canada. The Foundation is a non-profit, national organization, funded by donations from businesses and private individuals. The first Ernest C. Manning Innovation Award was presented in the fall of 1982. Since that time, more than $2.3 million has been awarded to Canadian innovators. Today, the program presents $155,000 in awards annually.

Nominations are received from throughout Canada. Each nomination is judged on intellectual achievement, uniqueness and originality, development, degree of commercialization, and economic and social benefits or potential benefits to Canada or society in general. Innovations may be from any area of human endeavor. Garrison Guitars manufactures its high quality, all SOLID wood acoustic guitars in its 20,000 square-foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for distribution to 23 countries worldwide. "It's amazing the successes we have experienced to date... when I first envisioned a one-piece bracing system, I never thought that we would come so far within such a short period of time", says Griffiths.
