The picture to the left is a picturesque view of the North Atlantic from the shore bluff in front of Joy's home.

Seventeen-year-old Joy Norman is from St. Bride's, a small community on the southwest corner of Newfoundland's Avalon Peninsula. Growing up by the Atlantic Ocean on the 'Cape Shore', Joy was exposed to a variety of Irish and folk-based music.

When Joy was thirteen years old, she performed for a group of naturalists who were visiting the province and nearby Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve. The group was lead by Jerry Walsh.

Jerry, who is now president of Gannet Music, thought that Joy had a unique talent and kept in touch with her afterwards. After some thought, Jerry proposed to Joy the idea of making a recording. Gannet Music was born and Joy's project began...

Both Joy Norman and Jerry Walsh co-wrote "Cape Shore Lady"
